Accounts and public discussions
Registration collects your username and email address. Your account also stores your password securely and any profile details you choose to provide. Forum topics, replies, display names and public profile information are visible to other visitors and may be indexed by search engines. Do not post private information about yourself or others. Comments on ordinary pages and articles are disabled.
Why we use information
We use account information to provide access to the forums, manage profiles, send account and password-reset emails, and respond to requests. Optional forum or topic subscriptions send discussion notifications; you can unsubscribe. We use technical information and moderation records to keep the community secure and prevent abuse.
Logs and cookies
Server and security logs may contain IP addresses, browser details, requested addresses and timestamps. We retain these logs for 60 days. Functional cookies support sign-in, session security and language preferences. You can manage cookies in your browser; blocking necessary cookies can prevent sign-in or remembering your language.
Services and external content
Authorized administrators and moderators can access the information needed for their work. Hosting and email services process data to operate the site. Akismet checks forum submissions for spam and may receive submission text, author details, IP addresses and browser information. Gravatar may process an email-derived identifier when avatars are displayed. These services are provided by Automattic and have their own privacy information. Member posts may embed third-party media; opening that media or external links can share technical data with those providers. Site Kit currently loads a Google tag for audience measurement. Google may process cookie identifiers, page views and browser/device information under its own privacy policy and configured retention settings. Those provider settings are separate from our 60-day server/security-log retention. Browser privacy controls can limit cookies and tracking.
How long information remains
Account information and public forum contributions remain until deleted. Deleting an account does not automatically delete every public contribution: specify whether you also want posts removed or anonymized. Restricted daily backups may retain earlier copies until the backup cycle replaces them. The 60-day period applies to server/security logs, not accounts or forum posts.
Your choices and requests
You can update your profile, manage subscriptions, and contact contact@chibagua.org to request access, correction, export, deletion or anonymization. We may verify that a request comes from the account holder. Depending on applicable law, you may also have rights to object, restrict processing or complain to a data-protection authority. Some records may need to be retained for legal obligations or resolving abuse.
