Bagua: The Eight Trigrams

Bagua means eight trigrams. Each trigram contains three broken or unbroken lines and belongs to a wider system of relationships found in Chinese thought. Earlier Heaven and Later Heaven arrangements serve different purposes. Feng Shui schools apply bagua differently, so a compass-based layout should not be mixed casually with an entrance-based modern map. This symbolic illustration shows the eight trigrams, not a universal floor-plan prescription.
